Did you know why majorites of Khonthai knew so a little about their surrounding neighboring country ?
Because 90% of Khonthai knew that Thailand is better than most of surrounding country which is truth, So that they do not pay attention to their neighbors instead the country that better than Thailand. and the funny thing is: the majorities of the thais didn't know other country were look down on them too (Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan... never mind mention the Western countries.
Lao trolls claim that Poo Jao Lao Jok is Lao, So Lao is Lawa cuz Poo Jao Lao Jok is half Lawa. Why these Lao cannot handle the truth?
Do you know Karen people in Burma are Astroasiatic by blood, but now Karen language is in SIno-Tibertan language family. Same go to Lao people they are Astroasiatic people by blood but speak a Tai language.
Lao (Law) and Lawa is same word in Lao and Thai language. No Tai groups identify themselves as Lao but Tai. Tai and Thai is also same word. Thai is Tai to begin with and mixed with local native people. But Lao is Lawa people in the beginning, Lao (Law) or Lawa is native to the land of Laos today especially in Sao (Sawa) the old name of Luang Prabang, they were conquered by a group of Tai, that made them speak a dialect of Tai (which is Lao language today).
Becuz The conqueror spoke Tai, they tend to make foreign word to a mono syllable word to fit their natural pronunciation. So the native words... Lawa cognate to Law (pronounce Lao). The old name of Luang Prabang, Chawa (Java) cognate to Sawa and then to Sao (Lao language have no Ch/Sh sound, they merge ch/sh to S)
Austroasiatic > Tai Lawa > Law > Lao Sawa > Saw > Sao
Lawa has been living in Luang prabang for thousand of years. Luang Prabang or Sawa, the land of Lawa (Lao), the name of city, the name of people resemble all the truth.
Have you ever wonder why only your people who speak Tai-Kadai language call yourselves *LAO* not *TAI* like others. That because after a group of TAI speakers migrated to *Sawa*, modern day Laos at Luang Prabang, these land were already occupied by the indigenous people call themselves *LAWA*. Then they all assimilated and call themselves *LAWA*, for hundred of years, the word morph to *LAO*. It's same word, same root. Even today, literally, in Lao language, the word LAO written as *LAW*. It's just obviously same word. LAO = LAW = LAWA
Don't confuse with the Lawa, Wa ethnic groups in China, Burma, Thailand, etc. Those are pure Lawa, But the Lao today are not pure blood, Lao has Lawa, Tai blood to begin with, then mixed with Khmer and then Viet. It's in history books. That's why Lao people today are not PURE LAWA, not PURE TAI, etc. and you have your own looks, not same the pure Lawa in China. Got it? I hope this helps.
Lao history step 1 says they are descended from a people called the Ailao. I have tracked down these people in Chinese records as being what the Chinese called the "Pu" people. In modern times these people are the "Wa" this would mean that the Laos are related to "Wa" people. "Wa" people are Austroasiatic aka Mon-Khmer. If this is true, how can Laos be Tai? it doesn't make sense. The only logical explanation is that Lao are Austroasiatics that practiced Tai culture. Lao people claim descent from Ailao people. Ailao people were not "Tai". You people are just as ethnically confused as the Khmers. Your histories don't make sense. I found Chinese documents that trace back a Ai Lao people. There was an interchangable/trasition name the Chinese used for the AiLao were the "Pu" people. The name Pu can then be traced to the modern name of the people as "Wa". Congratulations AiLao aren't even Tai at all. So much for fabricated history.

Oh Dear. It sounds like you are so desperate to reply to the person who wrote in Thai above and you yourself are now trying to be the troll. What the point about Austroasiatic thing? We are now all mixed with other people now. The world knows that Thailand is a new name for Siam. Current Thailand is a mix of at least 30% of Lao ethnic, 15% of Chinese Ethnic, plus Mon-Khmer, Malay and others. Similarly, Laos currently has more than 40 ethnic groups. And so what???????
