In 1955 to 1960 south Korea were poorer than Laos. At that time 1 dollars was 500 kips and 25 bath for 100 kips. At that time even Lao was not industry country but Lao people produced a lot of rice and agriculture was the backbone of Laos. Laos could live without import food and any goods from other countries until Buck Ho Chi Minh broke the peace treaty in Geneva. Laos was supposed to be a neutral country which was dragged in the Vietnam war. Now Laos is about a century behind Thailand and Malaysia in development.
