The Ministry of Public Security and Thaicom Company signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to broadcast Lao Public Security Television (PSTV) over a satellite link.
The memorandum was signed by the Head of the Political General Department of Public Security, Colonel Alu Valisue, and the Vice President of Thaicom, Mr Mekhin Phatphai.
Under the agreement, Thaic om will transmit the Lao PSTV signal over its 3MHz frequency, as well as the C Band through Thaicom 5.
Thaicom will serve Lao PSTV for four years with broadcasts scheduled to continue until September 30, 2016. Thaicom serves its customers both through C Band and KU-Band, and now has Lao television channel 3, Lao Star channel and its latest addition Lao PSTV.
Lao PSTV will broadcast 24 hours a day, and audiences will be able to watch it via cable, digital TV and satellite.
The move is aimed to ensure that everyone has access to Party political information and to reinforce public security.
