People are likely to read, watch and follow what is going on in Thailand.
1. First generation that migrated to the third world country. because they've already knew how to read and write some of it.
2. Second generation of Immigrant parent are unlikely to read or even watch thai dramma. because they're too busy to pull their baggy pant up 555.
3. The Third generation probably can't even speak lao, because their parent are too busy working all week long, some of these kids might understand some lao words.

Have you been to Laos lately? You don't have to be an oversea Lao to follow what's going on in Thailand. In preset day, people consume a lot of Thai media. Thai dramas, books, movies are sold in Laos. I wanted to find books written in Lao, but all bookstores in Vientiane that I went to have a lot of books in Thai, while books in Lao are old.
Also people watch Thai channels more than Lao channels. I went to Talat Sao market and every store that has a TV and also the food court were watching Thai channels such as dramas.

Second Lao generation in the US is too obsessed with the hip hop/rap/gangster culture.... This is true although not everyone is like that, but sadly many are like that.
