(KPL) The world record "Pasalob dance", a Lao traditional culture, ever held in the Lao PDR took place at That Luang square on Saturday drawing more than 4,200 students.
Participants in yellow t-shirts danced and stepped simultaneously according to four hit Lao songs Euay Kor Ngarm Nong Kor Ngarm, Ying Lao Yuk Mai, Oh Duang Cham Pa and Sao Tane Piao. The objective of the event is not only to promote the preservation of Lao traditional culture and dance but also to make the Lao PDR and its customs internationally known.
Pasalop dance is popular to social parties, traditional festivals and wedding ceremonies across the country.
"I am very happy to take part in marking such biggest event in the country. Pasalob dance is a unique dancing of Laos which has been in existence for a very long time. I always see Pasalob dancing at every wedding ceremony,"said Mr Sin Phimmasarn, a student of the National University of Laos.
"I join this event because I want to be good at dancing Pasalob. As all of us have seen, every wedding ceremony must have Pasalob dance so if you are not good at it you will not be able to join the group. Today, I am very much happy and also get value experience," said Miss Nalee Doysipaseuth, a student from Pakpasak Technical Collage.
All participants come from Faculties of Laws and Public Administration, and Engineering of the National University of Laos, Comcenter College, Rattana Business Administration College and Pakpasak Technical Collages, National School of Music and Dance, Vientiane Secondary School and Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh Friendship Secondary School.
