(Philippine Embassy, Vientiane Capital) - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines has opened a book of condolence for those who wish to express and convey their sympathies to the victims and their families of Typhoon Haiyan following the loss of lives and extensive damage wrought by the strongest typhoon ever to hit the Philippines.
Typhoon Haiyan hit land on 8 November, affecting an estimated 9,679,059 people (as of 11 November 2013) in 41 provinces in the Visayan region in central Philippines. At present, the affected areas remain littered with debris from damaged homes experiencing shortages of food and water, and lack of electricity and communication facilities.
The condolence book is open to the public at the Philippine Embassy located in Phonthan Road, Sisattanak District, Vientiane (beside Rattana Business Administration College) beginning Wednesday, 13 November 2013 between 9:00 am-12:00 noon and 1:30 pm-4:30 pm.
