So it is ok to listen to Viet song, Chinese song and English songs but not Thai songs?? what the F U C K is wrong with Lao authority? They got nothing to do?
Shouldn't they be worried about other things like drugs, crimes, etc..?
The purpose is simply to promote Lao musics and cultures to the tourist ears, that's all. In Laos, people watch Thai TV, listen to Thai songs and can use Thai Baht every day because of the similarity of language and cultures between the two countries. Vientiane is almost like another Thai city. Luang Prabang is a world heritage site and it's the only and best place that still remain for showcasing Lao cultures and heritage. It's therefore so weird that people who come so far away from other countries have to listen to Thai songs and think they are listening to Lao songs and that Thai and Lao songs are the same, which is not so true, except for the Isaan songs. It's also a way to encourage young Lao to be proud of Lao musics and to promote Lao songs and musics to the world. If you have some sense of Laoness in you you should immediately understand this decision of the government.
I think Lao government do the right thing to ban Thai music to pay in the world heritage Lang Prabang. Lao people stupid themselves don't want preserve their own rich culture and they want prefer Thai western cultural instead Lao music.
