Vietnam requested that no further developments on the Mekong mainstream occur until the Mekong mainstream dams study agreed upon at least year's Council Meeting is completed," International Rivers, an NGO devoted to river conservation, said in a statement.

This is a big test for lao PDR government to show laonoks and the rest of the world that laos is not under Vietnamese order or control. So if Lao PDR government go a head and build the Saiyabuly Dam and I'll believe 10000% that Laos is no longer Vietnamese control... Let' see, time will tell.

Don't be fouled by this comedy. Vietnam and Cambodia just want to show the dam's opponents that they are also against the construction. Vietnam has already expressed some concerns and requested a 10-years delay, but that did not prevent the initiation of the dam's construction.

You can call this a comedy but it is not funny for Laos. Laos is in a very deep sh**t hole - how can Laos get out this dilemma ? If you look at the lao political landscape you see that Laos, at this moment, has no friends on her side. Vietnam and Cambodia just yelled at Laos to stop building that Xayaburi dam. The rest of the other Asean countries are ganging up on the unmotivated Laos to step up the investigation on the disappearance of Dr Sombath. China ? just enjoys sucking lao blood out from all of these so-called investments and Special Economic Zones....

Laosy pdr gov't will build the dam 10000%. Why, because of $$$$.
Viets only pretend to complain because they want to show that they care about the environment and the people against the dam. But really, they are going to benefit from the dam as well $$$$ cause they OWN LAOS.
Viets say one thing to the media, "yeah we want to study the affects of the dam first for 10 years".
Viets say to commie viet-lao gov't, "keep continuing as planned, hahaha..."
Then some dumb commie lao official accidentally opens his mouth to the media and says, "yeah we going to build dam".
Also, it's spelled dam not damn for all you damn people.

Why do you think every rainning season some of you people always flood especially lying lower area like Thailand ? because G'dam Chinese released some waters in the upper mekong river when heavy rain in thier region. as for Summertime ? all of you people got no water 555. Why ? because they kept it for themself...
Open your eyes Lao, Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian. Say something and stop bitting each others.
