Vietnam has planned to double its total investment in Laos to US$7 billion by 2015, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The ministry, in coordination with relevant Vietnamese and Lao agencies, on December 25 in Vientiane held a business forum, which drew the participation of nearly 100 Vietnamese enterprises and overseas Vietnamese.

Now, Vietnam has over 200 investment projects with the total capital of some US$3.5 billion. Vietnamese enterprises have made strong presence in Laos, including Laos-Viet Nam Bank, Saigon Bank, Gold Long Thanh Group, and Dao Huong Group.

The two-way trade between Viet Nam and Laos is nearly US$900 million.

Vietnam has also been listed as one of the top five largest investors in Cambodia.

The country has so far this year had 124 investment projects with a combined capital of US$2.5 billion in Cambodia.

Vietnam doesn't have enough money to build her own projects  in Vietnam . Many projects in Laos still are waiting to be built by Vietnam so good luck.

That's exactly the saddest part. Without own funds, without own skilled workers, engineers and business people, basically Laos let other countries come with their own people on the top to exploit its land for the benefits of mostly their countries. When they are done with exploitation, Laos won't be able to learn much from them in order to continue on the projects for self-relying development. After 37 years, both China and Vietnam have tons of skilled workers and engineers of all kinds, Laos doesn't even have adequate schools to properly train its youngs to a decent level. The Korean used to let the Japanese come to invest in auto industires and other sectors in Korea. The Korean learned most skills from the Japanese. Now look at the auto industires of Korea, its economy and living standars, which is surpassing slowly Japan. It's shameful when we compare this with Laos.
