How many members here and elsewhere criticized the Thais for loving and having their mixed Falang-Thai representing actors/actresses and singers everywhere in Thai societies and criticized them for being shameful of their own people. So, a hypocrite is an even lower minset person than someone who dare tell the truth in his mind.

This is a Miss Laos contest right? That means any young woman who is a Lao citizen can enter and becomes Miss Laos regardless of her ethnic background. Race should not matter as long as she is Lao citizen from birth, speaks Lao fluently, believes and practices Lao custom and consinders herself as a Lao person. Putting it in another way, do you think that a Lao ethnic girl in the USA who thinks of herself as an American, talks American Englishn but not fluent in Lao language, carries herself like an American is more Lao than the girl M20? Seriously.

There is no such thing as a pure Lao race or any other race. Laos is composed of different people with many ethnic background that practice what we can be described today as Lao Culture. This is probably true since people in the Mekong River region start to call themselves "Lao".

A Lao ethnic girl in the USA is more respectable than a Lao girl who fukcs a falung and thinks she is better than other Lao people cause she had to sell out just for money. Her half falung kid looks down on Lao people cause she thinks she is better than they are and here the stupids worship them like gods when they don't do a damn good for Lao people or anyone, just their selfish self. How can you call a half fukced up falung Miss Lao? She is not Lao, she is only half if even that. Are we not proud to be Lao? Why don't we just join the Thai's and get cosmetic surgery until we look like falungs.

Lao girls in America speak American english of course, they aren't stupid. They also speak Lao cause their parents taught them, some even go to Lao school to learn to be fluent. Permit me to point out that you seem to misunderstand the two situations. The world knows that the USA, United Kingdom, France, etc. are multiracial societies because of their colonial past and that they had absorbed people around the world. They no longer shock anyone when they send their athletes or women of various races and colors to represent their countries on international sport competition or beauty contest. For comparison, as in many other Asian countries, Laos is known as a multiethnic society, not multiracial. We are not yet at the level of the American and European societies.

As for the Lao beauty contestant M20, the point here is not that she is mixed Lao-Falang because there have been mixed Lao women competing in this Lao beauty contest previously (for example the runner up Miss Lao 2010). There have been also contestants of Miss Lao oversea contest, i.e. US, France, Canada, etc who were of Lao-European descendent. The point here is that those mixed Lao contestants had Lao or Asian features in them. You can immediately see they were Asian with some European features. For comparison, the contestant M20 look nothing Asian, more like a European woman wearing traditional Lao costumes. Can you imagine the world watching a Miss Universe beauty contest live on TV where women from around the world all wear modern gown, and the presentater suddenly announces "And now here is Miss Cristina Rassasima from Laos" and the world looks on? Can you imagine what they have in their mind?

I just explain my honest opinion on a practical perspective. No intention to offend anyone here. I wish miss M20 well and that she is among the winners and has a lot of contracts from companies like BeerLao and others.

One weakness that Lao women are facing on national and international contest is their hight. You need to be at least 5'5" (or 1.65 meter) to be considered in the contest.

I have seen many more beautiful Lao women in real life, but most of them are not high enough. Therefore, tall women have the advantage, although many of them are not really beautiful but they rather rely on makeup, and maybe on surgery if they are rich enough.

Thank you for your a perspective that is sensible and thoughful. It is true that M20 has a European or Western features but it would be a gross biased to penalize her or anybody just because she does not has a typical Asian face. She does not choose to be borned with the look she has or does she has a choice in picking a place of her birth. She is Lao and that is all that matter. It will be the people in Laos who will judge if she is worthy to be Miss Laos and embrace her as one of them. Hopefully not because of what she looks like but by how her actions and characters are representive of their own.

A Laotian girl (Nitaya Panemalaythong- Minnesota) was also among those Falang girls and no one had saying anything about her not looking caucasion enough to be in Miss USA peagent, because the American poeple accepted the fact that she is an American citizen also and she had every right to compete in the peagent reguardless of her feature! So why are you having so much problem with M20 not looking Laotian enough to be competeting in Miss Laos peagent even though she is Lao citizen as well?!?!?!
