What I like to see is: PDR's government should pay more attention to local road, provincialroad and the whole Laos highway systems. they're all need to be improve, not just look good on around ''Kumpheng Nakon Viegchunh.'' prefectures. for example: National highway from Viengchun to Luangphabang need more guardrail on dangerous spot like: when you go up or go down tthe hills, you need some kinda protection from flip over from either sides of the road. this is not just happening now, it had happpened since laos got independent from France Ok... Another thing I like to mention, if residences of Phongsalee, Luangphabang, Samnue, SiengKuang would like to go Thakhet, Savanh and Pakse. Why would they have to go thru Kumpheng Nakon Viengchun ??? Why ? Why don't build the highway system that cut thru or pass over Viengchun ? save time, save money, first of all, there's no traffice go thru Kumpheng Nakon... Am i out of the topic ? hope not.

Laos doen't have good highway systems from north to south to do business around the country, now lao want build speedRail from chineses border to capital vientiane by borrowing $7billion u.s dallors from chiness. that is impossible. I think lao is big risky ambition dream. That say that if we builded speedrail what profit we will get from project and how could we repay debt and interest to chiness lender if business doen't do well. If we have $7billion of our own let is ok I guest. I think lao should be thinking about to build good infustruction around the country step by step before we think big. I saw that the road number 13 from chiness border very dangerious and the highway is very narrow two lens, that makes delivery merchandize and business slowly and also there is no rest area for trucks and cars.

The road from Vientiane to Luang Prabang is probably the worst road I've ever driven in my life. Now Laos wants a state-of-the-art train. Does that make sense? Thailand and Vietnam are expanding a high quality network of national roads and leaving the railways antique as they are. Now Laos plans the opposite. In my opinion, everybody uses roads all the time, while only some people use railways sometimes. Railways are there therefore a supplement to roads, not a substitute. I've see a few alternatives worth considering. Like straighten out and widen the road between Kasi and Vientiane. 215 km could probably be reduced to 170 or so. With a speed of 80 km/h that would little more than 2 hours. The road from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai shows how it can be done. The trip from Luang Prabang to Vientiane would take 4 hours via Muang Nan. Traffic from Udom Xai, Luang Nam Tha and Bokeo could be taken via Xanyabouly Province. Way shorter than the road now. All other roads could have curves cut, all it takes is a lot of digging. A tunnel here and a bridge there would help too.
Remember that improved roads will benefit everybody in the country in all provinces. A train would mostly cater to personal transport for people in Vientiane, Vang Vang Vieng, Kasi, Luang Prabang and Udom Xay. People from other places as well as cargo would still be travelling on some of the worst roads in Asia.
