The Urban population (% of total) in Laos was last reported at 33.20 in 2010, according to a World Bank report published in 2012. Urban population refers to people living in urban areas as defined by national statistical offices. It is calculated using World Bank population estimates and urban ratios from the United Nations World Urbanization Prospects. This page includes a historical data chart, news and forecasts for Urban population (% of total) in Laos. Laos is one of the world's poorest countries and one of the few remaining official Communist states. In 1986, the government began decentralization and as a result the economy started to expand. Yet, despite high growth rates, Laos remains a country with a primitive infrastructure. Subsistence agriculture (manly rice) accounts for half of GDP and provides 80% of total employment. In recent years, the economy is taking advantage of international aid and foreign investments in food processing and mining.

Crazy, I think the person made this study is unprofessonal
As I always said, read more carefully before posting. It's grossly misleading. It's urban population, meaning people living outise big cities, not necessary slums.
Laos doesn't have a big population like other countries like Vietnam, China, India, or Thailand. Most Laos people live in the countryside.
On the other hand, Laos has the least number of slums. Countries like India, Bengladesh, China, th Philippines, and others have more slums than Laos.
On the other hand, if poor illegal people from neighboring countries keep pooring into Laos, Vientiane may have slums like other big Asian cities.
