So stupid a comment. Thailand has nothing to do with the Wat Tay airport. What Thailand did was to help Laos extend the runway of this airport, as well as its main terminal, in form of ODA fund. The result was how the airport looks today. That was in 2004 when Laos was to host the meeting of ASEAN leaders. And that was when a Boeing 747 plane could land in Vientiane for the first time in history.
Thailand is also assisiting Laos in the on-going expansion project in order to cater 20-30 large-body passenger planes at the same time -- this is to live up to demands during the ASEM conference in Vientiane later this year.

I don't see any problem why Lao Airlines will not be able to fly to Korea in a near future if the two countries have already concluded an aviation agreement-- which I beleived has already existed. Should there be any problem that Lao Airlines cannot fly to Seoul it is not what to do with Thailand; it's up to bilateral aviation agreement netween Laos and Korea -- not with Thailand.
As you know, there are several airliners currently operating in and out of Laos, besides Thai International Airlines, and Bangkok Airways. A Korean low-budget airline is among of them. These airliners do not have to ask for permission from Thailand. Never.
So PLS don't try to give wrong information if you don't know exactly what it is. It a crime.
