(KPL) All contractors involving in the current ASEM9 construction projects in Vientiane have been asked to accelerate their works in order to be completed on time.
The request was made by Vientiane Mayor Soukhanh Mahalath at a workshop in Vientiane, yesterday.
Many avenues and other construction facility for ASEM9 in Vientiane Capital are being worked.
Mr Soukanh said that a 190.7-million soft loan from NIDA of Thailand has been used for the improvement of seven avenues of Chao Fa Ngum, Khouvieng, Khounboulom, Nongbone, Dongpalane, Lane Xang and Kaysonphomvihanh.
While China' s soft loan has been used for the improvement of Nong Nieng, Dondeng-Houayhong, Phakhao, Thapalansay, Nongdouang, That Luang, Viengchalern and Phonphanao roads, he said.
He added that all ASEM 9 construction projects are expected to be completed at the end of September. However there is a difficult factor during the rainy season.
Now Vientiane is busy in the public parks decoration under campaign of Vientiane Clean, Plastic bag-free area and Greenness.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith said the upcoming biggest meeting of the 7th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting, scheduled on 3-4 October, the 9th Asia-Europe People' s Forum on 16-19 October, and the 13th Asia-Europe Business Forum "ASEM9" scheduled on 5-6 November
The ASEM9 would focus on discussing the two regions of Asia-Europe regarding the UN millennium Goal, nuclear weapon reduction, terrorism, pirate, energy security, food security, natural disaster management, water management and human trafficking and drugs trafficking. The ASEM9 will also discuss on economy and Europe financial crisis, social and cultural issues and ASEM in the future.
The ASEM9 will raise the role and reputation of Lao PDR to the international arena and it also provide a great chance to Laos to attract more investors to Laos, he said.
The ASEM9 will draw over 4,000 delegates from the members of ASEM including state leaders.
Dr. Thongloun called on all sectors concerned to pay close attention to their responsibilities that have been assigned.
