Too bad Lao speaks Thai in Laos. Now mostly Thai people are understanding Lao. I went to Thailand I speak Lao with Thai Bangkok people and they understand Lao very well. Lao people just want to show off that they know how to speak Thai to Thai people. No need to be brown nose Lao people.

Too Bad Lao American don't speak Lao ,only American Ehglish.
Its up to the individual right , you have no right to tell them what to do or say, they can lick the thai assss if they want to. you no business to tell them, you only have the right to tell your own family not all the people in general. Now respect their right.......

In my opinion, I think that it's not harmful any Lao Peoples or Lao Culture that people who is only tourist quide speaks Thai on the other hand it should be better if she can peaks more clearly than this. Usaully tourist quide has to speaks langues that their customers speak for better understand. please do not justify her to right or wrong. Please open our heart and mind and accept the changing.
In other side, if our leaders or government speaker speaks thai in official floor, this cannot do it.

I am Lao-American and born in the States. If I don't know how to speak Lao how come I know how to read Lao? I speak and understand Lao-Thai-French and little Vietnamese beside my English.
