This is very normal in many countries, not just Laos! Money & Talent goes hand in hand in music industry!I've seen a few good, not excellent Lao musicians from Laos.
Example: Cells,Temple Guys, Tee Oudalai, and Tuxedo. Their musics are probably considered top notch for Lao music fans in Laos and some from abroad. The majority of Laotians who live abroad are so use to listen to the kind of musics that have complexity, sofistication, and cutting edge sounds in rythums and lyrics performed by true talented musicians who have spend years and years studing music and learn how to play musical instruments in college and Unitversity! The mojority of those musicians knew how to play at least two instuments or more and they take great pride in their skills and song writing to gives their fans the satisfaction in their work in order to gain their popularity and also $$$$$$ gain!
