If you guys go to the wedsite: Princess of Laos. The director (he is black) will tell you why he make this film. He was married to a Lao lady and from her he learned what her family has gone through during the Vietnam War and when the communinst took over Laos in 1975. Basically the main point of the movie was how the communist Lao government treated other Lao citizens that don't agree with their policy. The reeducation camp, the killing, etc. If I m wrong someone call also add other comment to it too.
The drama is all fictions, but the contents is what truly happen to Lao peoples during the war and it aftermass. Overall it is a good film. This film will make you proud of your own background and the rich history of the country.
OH black man, have a look at this video in youtube, you will love it Exploring the food in Laos, about 7 mn 57, in youtube, 1 black man 1 japanese man, 1 cocasian man...I guarantee you will like this video.

I am so hate them. and you are producer or actor you should listen then comment..! Priness Of Laos... !!!
Jayden thanks for wanting to see the movie. As far as using a lao girl to play the role? Jayden for the 10,000th time she is Lao. She speaks more Lao than the girls doing the Champa dance. So she got the part also because her great grandmother was married to the king in 1910. I would reveal more but its good to keep you guessing. Its good to see the negative comments because that promotes the movie. Kup jai lai lai.

Thanks for trying to clear up some misconceptions but your synopsis of the movie is a little off. Its a fiction/drama movie. Its not about the communist Lao government. However the lead actresses grandfather and two great uncles were victims of the communist take over. They fought hard to maintain the Royal Family's tradition. One of her great uncles was the ambassador to Laos. The 30 people casted in the movie are all refugees with exception to the young Champa dancers. Thanks for reading the reasons i filmed the movie. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Lao people so the film does nothing but complement it. For the record the Lao community in several cities are waiting for the premier and the monks who allowed me to film in the temple gave me their blessings. So we appreciate your kind words. I promise you will not be disappointed in the mission i have set before me. Kup jai.

I guarantee you will be proud. The grandmother of the lead actress makes an appearance in the FAMILY BIO. She tells of her chilling escape from Lao. Her husband was taken captive. She had to leave in such a hurry she left her oldest son behind just to make sure the rest made it out safe. ALL of the family bio is true, but the movie Princess of Laos is fiction/drama and was inspired by the refugee family. Rich history is absolutely right. Thanks who ever you are for your ability to read between the lines.
Princess of Laos wasn't born in any country from Africa ..that's for sure.
No she wasnt but his next movie is Princess of Africa and the director is looking for a mexican girl. He believes in breaking stereotypes. "White Men Can't Jump" etc

What I see is you promote your daughter to become a movie star right ?
It will be hardly excepted from the .........laotian.
Mychal Mitchell, claimed to be the one who filmed this movies, he was the camera man for this movies, and he said that this movies is FICTION, means not TRUE, like SCIENCES FICTION movies....or Imagination, Made Up story. Any war will have refugees, and suffering like you see now in the world, from people in Africa, dying because of hunger, refugees dying in the sea...etc so that's the way it is, lao refugees are not much different to any kind of refugees. Have a look now in Africa, young child lies death because there is no food for them...

Conversation between Princess of Laos staff and this guy who said we said a bad thing:
no, you should listen to the comment in the preview.....the lead actress is the great grandaughter of a woman once married to the king, if you love your country/culture read about her family before you make yourself look like a fool commenting that Lao women are prettier, i just showed you comment to the monks here he was embarrassed........she got the part because she is pretty and she is Lao, so when the movie comes out stay at home

It's been two years... Why isn't this movie popular? Is it the quality? Is it the acting skills? Is it the fact that all of the main actors are one family in real life? Is it the fact that there are no Hollywood stars in this film?
I'm just asking questions.
I know you put a lot of effort into making this film. I'm hoping to see more of your work. But this time perhaps you might want to cast at least one actor with a reputation already. It might attract more viewers. Also I looked at the DVD and the soundtrack covers, and I think that they do not look professional. You could have hired a graphic designer to do this. I'm commenting on the quality of the covers because when it comes to attracting viewers covers are very important; not everyone has the "don't judge a book by its cover" mentality.

How this so call movie will be popular and to whom ?
I think, before you/the producer/ throws the money into the flame, he/she should do the research or marketing.
See some good story, but it isn't a fund to produce the movie, they start on internet kickstater.
At no time, they raise enough and for sure the movie will be popular.
I don't see on the "princess of laos". I see the family wishes, but it needs a knowledge to do the art.
The storyteller, the screen writer, the director and so on should provide the bio and filmography.
