LOCAL volunteer organisation Little Survivors has launched a campaign to create awareness of a hidden genocide in Laos, and to get the Australian Government to take action.
This coincides with Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd’s recent announcement that a free trade agreement between Australia and Laos came into force from January 1 allowing increased trade and investment with the country.
This agreement has gone ahead despite repeated concerns of human rights abuses committed by the Laos government.
One of the most horrendous human rights abuses is the 35-year genocide committed against the Hmong minority in the remote mountains of Laos where the Hmong are in hiding.
Foreign journalists who have smuggled themselves into the areas have reported, witnessed and collected evidence of attacks.
The Australian Government is one of the largest donors to Laos, providing millions in aid every year, as well as continuing to have strong and significant diplomatic, business and investment ties with the country.

I believe Australian government won't tell criminals ' to come and sit down and have a cup of tea' but telling them to go to jail. Plenty of video about Hmong new year in Laos in youtube.

Oh yeah Khmer rouge, How about the document called BROTHER NUMBER 2, also showned on autralian tv, telling us, POL POT was supported by USA, England, Thailand....this brother number 2 responsible for many million cambodians death, and yet United Nation Court only gave him just more than 10 years jail....not even life sentence, is a farse from the western democracy according to all reporters from England, Australia..in this document.
I am a Lao student in Australia but I don’t see any big deal than Australia people really concerns about this. In fact, Australian people know well what Hmong people did to Laos in the past by helping CIA to destroy their home land. Until today, some Australia veterans who served Indochina war feel very disappointed what they did to us and they also condemn those who supported Indochina war.
