First of all, I am sorry I cannot write in Lao, I think this person is trying to correct other's Language ability, why? I am wondering how much you know about Lao language, how many accents; dialects and ways of speaking are being used in Laos???
There is NOTHING WRONG with ແຕ່ງອາຫານin some parts of Laos are using this term heaps. For example, ‘Teng Yu Kua Kin’ Do you know that word? It is 100% Lao word.
So my conclusion is respect variety of Lao languages, they may use different terms but I am sure you know the meaning what they are trying to say, and important thing is this website, is not Lao grammar teaching website, unless they ask you to help! However, I do understand that you are trying to help, but as I said ‘respect the difference of variety of Lao culture’ particularly local/slang in different parts of our country.

I have Vientiene accent & it would be nice if you gonna speak Lao language please speak it correctly or appropiately & please don't be using different dialect for an excuse is the least you can do to show the respect for Lao language if you're true Laotian. Ten yu kua kin ( ແຕ່ງຢູ່ຄົວກິນ ) is broken Lao language or none existing slang term.
ຄົວຢູ່ຄົວກິນ ( koi yu koi kin ) is the right term for Lao slang. ແຕ່ງອາຫານ ( teng ah han ) is referring to the food that's already prepaired or cooked than spoon it onto the plate, dish, bowl......etc & serve. ຄົວກິນ/ຄົວອາຫານis reffering to prepairing or cooking the food in raw stage.

You are little to mean to him/her ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"try only to correct Lao word", So what is correct, and what is incorrect in your pointof view?, I come from northern of Laos and I use Teng Kin, that means I use incorrect Lao word? If I am using the incorrect Lao word, am I still a Lao person? Please tell me!
That is why they are plenty of ways to say it in Lao language, if you are trying to correct every part of Lao language in endless! Therefore, as long as it is Lao word DO NOT try to distinguish what is correct what is not because it is all Lao words with the same meaning (.)

Modern Lao or not , you should use the word appropriately just like when you speak English so people can understand you correctly!
Teng is prepare or put together
kin is eat
When you put the two words together then it becomes > prepare eat.
I don't think it makes sense in English or old & modern Lao.
I you want to know how to make, cook, or prepare Lao food then you should have stated as follow:
ຢາກຮູ້ວິທີເຮັດອາຫານລາວ ? ຢາກຮູ້ວິທີຄົວອາຫານລາວ? ສວນຫຼາຍລາວເຮົາຈະບໍ່ເວົ້າແບບນີ້ How to make Lao food? How to cook Lao food? How to prepare Lao food?

Strictly speaking Teng kin (from the phrase Teng Yu Koua Kin) has the same meaning as Het A hanh/Khoua A hanh so they are all correct. Teng kin is used by northern Lao people. My family also come from Northen Laos: Xieng Kouang and Houaphan and we use Teng kin as to mean Het kin / Khoua Kin.
Most Lao dictionaries are very limited in words and outdated as well. There are so many Lao words that have not been included in the dictionary and when someone hears or sees them and thinks that the words are not correct because you cannot find them in the dictionary is unreasonable.
Quote: “When you put the two words together then it becomes > prepare eat. I don't think it makes sense in English or old & modern Lao.”
Since Prepare and Eat are verbs so we should write “Prepare something To Eat” then it does make sense in English
