The problem is how today's people in Laos built houses that do not take the environment into consideration. Everybody wants that air tight home where there is no air circulation so when the weather gets hot, it's unbearable inside the house. In the old day, houses were built on stilts with ventilation on all sides. In the colonial era, houses had holes so that hot air can be removed by air flowing near the high ceiling. Another problem is that most urban areas now pave courtyard, sidewalks, streets with concrete that absorbs and radiates heat. There should be more plants and trees provide shades and reflect heat from the ground below. One should think more about creating living structures that require fewer air cons so that you save electricity and money.
