Last fall, I went to visit my home town in Laos, I stayed in Vientiane 1 week before I fly back to the U.S. I had high temperature fever, my cousion brought me to Setha Hospital in Hua Kua district. I received very warm welcom from Doctor, nurse and hospital staffs. May be they knew inside of my pocket is full of U.S. Dollars that's why they made special taking care of me without any question.
The thing is that the doctor and the nursehave to pay(bribe) some body to enroll to study-this excludes tutor-lecture fees.
Last two years I tried to get my lisstle sister to study nursing at Thatdam (Nursing college). They asked for about 6 million Kip. Can you see this? can you imagine if some one has investment on something, they will certainly want to get benefit from it, right?. Therefore, this issues have to be solved by many Ministries such as Ministry of education, Ministry of Public Healt and other organisation related.
By the way, my sister didn't stuay there then as she prefer to study overseas instead.
Doctors, nurses and hospital staffs in Laos that you're talking about are good more than a hospital some city in the USA. Last couple years, hospital left a woman patient suffered and died in front of them at E/R lobby. Doctors, nurses, surcurities and hospital staffs just stood there and watching her suffering until her last breath. She has no health insurance that's why they didn't save her life. Bad people are all over every where in the world.
