when i was school boy, my school was 6 yrs elementary school
4 yrs middle school
3 yrs high school
total : 13 yrs basic school (samanh school)
when was lao education system change to 11 yrs, just wadering ?
Laos education is 3 steps behind from the West countries and 2 steps behind Laos before 1975 if comparing to today's. 12th grade ( Matta-yom pai ) is same as 9th grade ( Matta-yom ton ) of last 40 years of Laos general education levels. Laos Education Ministry needs to change to new basic of teaching and learn from the west education systems. You added 1 more year in high school don't mean that you have a step higher then your previous grade of your educating. 12 years is most maximum basic of general education ( saman suksa ) in the Europe, North America and modern countries in Asia, after that continue in university or college for skills and professionals degree ( asivar suksa ). Laos needs new basic and system of education, is the most.
i see, remember a lot of my classmates were very happy for their 2-3 yrs paid excursion to CCCP or in some of the Eastern Europe countries. and m still remember one of my classmate (one of the best mathematics, science and chemist score of the whole school) when he got sabsone at DongDork, said one day will be my day. at the time i was not sure what he meant, but now. on the same token as a lot of my schoolmates i was sabsone in the first in VTE communication institute with promising to get the second 2 yrs to some of eastern europe countries, but never happened. i learned, that 3 yrs later that school really existed. too late for me. i was already kicking dirt around and make a lot of friends and did not think about school at all, but now. ....................... i will enroll in some department in NUOL when i retire.
My friend ( Arloune S. Rajsaphack ) came to my house and told me that he saw my name on the list of people ( studens ) go to study in Moscow CCCP, in 1976. I was so happy and jumped in his Austin then he drove me to see that result at our University ( IRDA ). 2 months later, I was in Moscow. 4 years in CCCP, I had haven't heart news from my best friend Arloune S. Rajsaphack, and can't contact with him after I got to Moscow.
1980, I came back home. A month later, I went to ask about my job at education Minisrty but had nothing for me yet. 2....3....and 4 months passed by still heart nothing from Khan Theung. I recieved a mail of my friend, Arloune S. Rajsaphack from France. He told me that Khan Theung's not going to offer a good job and let me live in Vientine. They will sending me to the north like Samneua, Sieng Khouang or go south to Attapeu, Saravanh? He said I am a son and grand son of top rank of Lao Patikan ( not military ), they are not Sab Sone myself to a good spot in the capital city. My 10th months that Tae Foonwith no income, finally Khan Theung called me up and told me that I got Sab Sone to be Assistant Chao Muong Muong Vieng say, Khoueng Huaphan. 2 weeks later Iwas in Thailand, and 6 months later here in the U.S.
ARE YOU SURE? I DON'T THINK IT'S TRUE. MY GRANDPA WAS A DISTRICT COURT JUDGE, AND MY DAD WAS A LAWYER BEFORE LAOS PDR. THEY DON'T WANT PATIKAN SON LIKE ME TO WORK FOR THEM, THAT WAS A REASON I DON'T GET A JOB AFTER I CAME HOME FROM CCCP. ANY WAY I AM STILL LOVE AND WORRY ABOUT MY MOTHERLAND, ALWAYS.
Laos needs educated people to rebuild or develop the country. Education is #1 priority for developing and growing economy. Education must be step ahead of every element factors of rebuilding the nation after the country was torn by the war.
Over 100 years Laos is still in the list of Third World Country and poorless country in the world. When can we take our country's name out of that list? Now is time for Lao people from every where in the world to regroup and give hands together to rebuild our motherland. The government is opening door for Lao in oversea to reunite and work side by side as one Laos power to fight against poverty in our country to disappear.
