Paso Loble not Paso Doble.

This dancing style is not belong to Laos, it original is came from Dutch or Hollandais and was hit in last 60 years ago. Bouangeun Saphouvong brought this dancing style to compose with his song in the 90's.

Poso + Loble = Pasloble

But Lao pronounce: BASLOB.

Sorry if I am wrong.

That's wrong brother! Dance Baslob has been practiced by Lao people even before the communists came to power. Lao refugees going to France have been dancing Baslob since 1975 nonstop. In addition, Khon Lao in Laos under the communism in Vientiane still danced Baslob until today, even Lao embassy in Thailand kept practicing baslob every Lao new year in Bangkok. That's when the Thai have noticed that the Lao women danced this strange dance.

Baslob became popular in Thailand when Tai Oratai started her new song with dancers wearing Pah Sinh.

You're wrong as well, bro! The word " Baslob " have not thing to do with dancing, but Pasa Doble means double- step dance in Spanish and the dance was first originated in South of France! Got that?!biggrin

You misunderstood, bro. We talked about two different things here.

I know what dance Paso Doble is. I watched Dancing with the Stars on TV for several years. It's totally different from what the Lao version that Lao people call Baslob or Paslob. Look at the two dances by yourself on the videos below.

Lao people modified the Paso Doble dance to Lao style that is called Baslob or Paslop that is very soft and NO westerners would recognize as Paso Doble at all.

When the Thai dance Paso Doble they actually use the Lao style and they DO recognize it that it is based on Lao style that they dance and that actually has NOT MUCH in common with the origianl Paso Doble.

This is the western Paso Doble performed during "Dancing with the Stars" on ABC channel last month:

This is the Lao Baslob or Paslob dance and music style. Do you see any similarity with Paso Doble at all? I don't see any. It's Lao dance style

I never said baslob and pasa doble are similar in any way in terms of dancing technique. The only similarity are their names b/c first of all baslob is not even a Lao word nor does it have any meaning in Lao language, and it sounds very similar to pasa doble with miss pronounciation by Laotian who very often have the tendency to miss pronouce words in a forniegn language such as French, English, Spanish, etc...  My speculation about this so called Lao style modern dance " Baslop" could have actually came from Pasa Doble and the idiot who started this dance at that time didn't know the proper dancing technique for this dance and do the western line dance instead of and miss understood for Pasa Doble and also miss pronounce for Baslob....

This is line dancing and it is called " ເຕັ້ນແຖວ!" in Lao language!

If Baslop is Lao language, can you give its meaning for what is Bas means in Lao language and what is Lop means in Lao?????

Where did I say Baslop is a TYPICAL LAO DANCE with a Lao meanning???? I never said that.

People with a minimum logical thinking would have immediately understood that Baslop is not a typical Lao word. It was based on Western dance concepts that have been modified to suit Lao people, especially Lao women. Lao men and women, boys and girls, consider it inappropriate to hold hands, like in Latin or any western dances.

FYI, Lao people typically dance Lam Vong, Lum Salavan etc during parties. Those are typical Lao dances that each have a meaning in Lao. Now in addition to those dances, Lao people also dance what hey call Baslop which they modified from Western dances to suit their own style and taste. All those moves and steps are based on Western dances. Lao women add hand and arm movement to make it soft and graceful.
